Diffy Integrations: CI/CD, Hosting and Dev Tools

Diffy compares screenshots of your pages across environments. These integrations decide when that happens — on a pull request, after a deploy, from your laptop — and where the result goes: a check on the pull request, a merge request comment, Slack, or a ticket in your tracker.

Anything that can run a shell command with PHP installed can run Diffy through the Diffy CLI, and anything that can make an HTTP request can call the API directly (API access comes with every paid plan). The integrations below are the ones with a ready-made setup or a written guide.

CI/CD and code hosting

IntegrationWhat it doesGuide
GitHub ActionsCompares every pull request’s preview environment with production and posts the result as a check on the pull request, with an optional commentVisual regression testing in GitHub Actions
GitHub checks and commentsThe Diffy GitHub app attaches a check to the commit: success when nothing changed, action required when changes need review, success again once they’re reviewed. Can be a required status checkGitHub Actions guide
GitLabPosts a comment on the merge request when the comparison starts and another when it completes, and sets a commit statusVisual regression testing in GitLab CI · Docs

Hosting platforms and preview environments

Diffy needs a URL for each environment it compares. These guides show how to get that URL from your host and hand it to Diffy automatically.

PlatformWhat it doesGuide
Upsun (formerly Platform.sh)Waits for Upsun’s pull request environment, then compares it with productionUpsun pull request guide
PantheonCreates a Multidev for each pull request and compares it. A separate script runs CMS updates on their own Multidev and compares the resultGitHub, Pantheon and GitHub Actions docs · Blog: Pantheon deployments from GitHub · pantheon-autoupdates
TugboatTriggers the comparison once a Tugboat preview has builtGitHub and Tugboat docs
CloudflareCompares a Cloudflare branch deployment with production after the deployment check succeedsAstro, GitHub and Cloudflare docs
Vercel and other hosts with GitHub deploymentsTriggers on GitHub’s deployment_status event and compares the preview URLGitHub Actions guide

Local development

Test your local site before you push: capture screenshots on your machine with one of the add-ons, or open a tunnel so Diffy’s servers can reach it.

Missing an integration?

If your stack isn’t listed, it most likely works through the CLI: get the environment URL, run diffy project:compare, and read the result from the check, the comment or the notification. Tell us what you use at support@diffy.website — new guides come from those requests. Or start a free account and try a comparison from the UI first.
